What is “Unincorporated Glenview”?  It is an area of land not ruled by the Village of Glenview, but falls under the jurisdiction of Cook County, and receives many benefits from Northfield Township and the Northfield Township Road District.

Tell me about the Fire and Police Departments. 
If you need FIRE assistance, call 911.  The Glenview Fire Department will be dispatched asap.  There is no service lag due to being “unincorporated.

If you need POLICE resources call 911.  A Cook County Sheriff will be dispatched.  There is no service lag due to being “unincorporated”.  The sheriff’s department is located approximately 2 miles away in Des Plaines, IL.

Where does my water come from? Your water is provided by the Village of Glenview.  It comes from the same source as all residents of Glenview.

How do I get a library card?  Check your property tax bill for a line item listed as “library”.  If there is no line item, bring your tax bill to the Glenview Public Library (1930 Glenview Road). You will be charged the same amount for a library card that a Glenview resident would pay.

What company collects our garbage?  Being in Northfield Township, you have the right to chose your garbage collection company.  The local companies are Groot, Waste Management, and Prairie. Glenview residents must use Groot.

Do I receive Glenview Park District resident rates?  Yes, while you may technically live in Northfield Township, you still receive the discounted “resident” rate for all Park District services.
